    Rajesh Kaura, B. Tech. (IIT Bombay) worked with Larsen & Toubro before joining the PGDBA at IIM-A (1971-73).

    Though selected as a science talent scholar, he chose to pursue Mechanical Engineering at IIT, followed by on-the-job exposure to production planning and control at L&T and later took assignments in merchant banking, overseas projects and exports in Citibank, Sarabhai Group and East India Hotels units exports in 1985-86.

    In 1986, long before liberalization and globalization took roots in the country, he aimed higher and changed tracks to became a first generation visionary entrepreneur by setting up Regency Corporation, an export house, trading in home furnishings.

    Within a short period he took the company to a pre-eminent position in its domain and was awarded Texprocil’s prestigious Golden Trophy for three consecutive years.

    Regency Corporation’s operations pioneered a new and efficient culture, a dynamic movement towards higher productivity in the powerloom centre at Sholapur where production touched new highs under his inspiring leadership.
