Anil Somani is a Chemical Engineer from IIT Bombay and did his PGDBA from IIM-A immediately thereafter in 1973 Born into a business family of Gwalior, Anil has had an illustrious academic career.
After finishing his schooling from the famous Scindia Public School., he was the first son of the soil to have the privilege of attaining the unique IIT-IIM combination. The admission procedure into these institutions involves an extremely stiff competition and he distinguished himself by being the recipient of merit scholarships. After a brief stint in the corporate world wherein he joined the Alokudyog Group Companies (an offshoot of the Sahu Jain Group), Anil settled down to promote and expand his family business. He promoted a pharmaceutical company and astutely guided the unit through the economic slowdown of the late nineties through a strategic alliance with the drug major Ranbaxy.
Anil has been the Vice-President of the MP Chambers of Commerce & Industries and has led several trade delegations to Central Ministries on critical economic issues. He has held responsible positions in several social, charitable and business bodies From 1992 to 2001, Anil was on the Board of Governors of the Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management (IITTM),an educational institution administered by the Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India.
Anil is the Founder and the Executive Chairman of FOSTIIMA Business School.
