Conclave on “Innovative Practices in Management” at FOSTIIMA

FOSTIIMA organized a conclave on “Innovative Practices in Management” on 16 March 2022. It was held on the college campus in New Delhi. The eminent speakers in the conclave were:

  • Mr Yuvraj Srivastava (Group CHRO Make my trip)
  • Kishor Nahar (HRD, Newgen Software technologies limited)
  • Gibson Vedamani (Founder, Retail Solutions and Learning Technologies LLP)
  • Vivian Emmanuel (People lead, North and India, Modern Trade, Mondelez International)

The conclave was inaugurated with the light of the lamp. During the inauguration of the conclave, it was stated that “Success is not an accident, it is all about learning and sacrifice

The conclave began with Mr. Kishor Nahar who in his address mentioned the post-pandemic challenges before the business as well as the industries. Some of the challenges during and after the pandemic were operating from home, persuading people to come to the office. However, there were some good points that emerged in these difficult times like benefits operating from home, attending the office alternate day that gave comfort to the employees.

Another challenge in the post-pandemic world is regarding recruitment, retention of employees, and a lot of challenges arising out of attrition. One more positive outcome in the post-pandemic world is the opportunity for people to work from far away places and maintain a healthy work-life balance.

Mr Yuvraj Srivastava in his address mentioned the importance of innovation-driven work. In his presentation, he stated that innovation implies Creativity, Vision, and Growth. Innovation is important as it leads to competitive advantage, employee retention, customer sensitivity, and brand building. He gave various examples of innovation adopted by different companies included the example of Arogya Setu which is a successful innovation by the government for contact tracing, counseling, vaccination, and treatment of covid. Mr Yuvraj Shrivastava mentioned the importance for any organization regarding customer focus, continuous improvement, and commitment to results. Regarding the innovation, in HR he mentioned the importance of open-leave policy, innovation in hiring, a different organization with different leave systems.

Mr Gibson Vedamani addressed the conference through video-conferencing. In his address, he stated and gave the example of Bata which adopted innovative ways to market and ensure the supply chain during the pandemic through online marketing of its products. Bata Malaysia came up with an innovative idea of a chat, shop for its customers as a substitute for a physical visit of the customers during the pandemic. A similar example is of Dmart.

He suggested the embracement of disruption like covid for bringing out changes in the organization which includes hybrid workforce, thinking fluid, leading through influence, and access to talent.

After the presentation, there was a discussion on various issues relating to innovation, varieties and customization, and other related issues.

In the concluding session of the conclave Mr. Anil Somani, the Chairman of FOSTIIMA Business School in his address thanked the guest speakers for their insight about various issues relating to the management in the post-pandemic world. He mentioned that various insights on these complex issues are very relevant. He thanked all the participants in the conclave.
